I'd warn for spoilers, but let's face it: I'm probably doing you a favor by spoiling this series for you if you're lucky enough to NOT have wasted your time reading this manga.

day.27 - A pairing that you loved and ended up hating?

Syaoran/Sakura [Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE]

I want to make it clear that I love the Syaoran Li/Sakura Kinomoto pairing in Cardcaptor Sakura; they were my other contender for Day 18 and are definitely heavy-hitters for My OTP of All Time. I enjoyed how their relationship developed, tsundere!Syaoran and tennen!Sakura were fricking adorable, and the ending was warm and fuzzy and pretty good as far as shojo endings go.

Then CLAMP drew this clusterfuck of a manga called "Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE" and completely stomped on my shipper heart. The story was so convulted and terrible that it managed to kill almost all love I had for CLAMP as storytellers, but the number one crime that TRC committed was that it connected TRC!Syaoran/Sakura to CCS!Syaoran/Sakura... by making TRC!Syaoran the clone of the son of CCS!Syaoran/Sakura and setting him up with an alternate-dimension version of his own mother.

What the shit, CLAMP. 

The only justification I can come up for TRC's existence is that TRC is probably CLAMP's way of rick-rolling all the disgruntled X/1999 fans. (Yeah, I went there.)

Total cluster fuck. Couple of years when I had NT left to spend at the airport I actually bought a couple volumes of Tsubasa. So ashamed.

Here's a question: Is there anyone you like Touya with in CCS?

I made the mistake of buying 4 of the hardcover Japanese volumes and 8 of the English releases... I ended up selling them, of course.

Touya: I'll ship him with pretty much anyone except for his dad (I guess Eriol counts as this too) and his sister. I wish CLAMP had gone with the "Tomoyo has a crush on Touya" route, but I liked Touya/Kaho and Touya/Yukito too.

I still haven't finished reading TRC, and I'm not sure yet if I'll do it. For CLAMP to dare to ruin CCS through TRC...T_T

I don't dislike the pairing, but the whole thing is so damn twisted that it still gives me nightmares...

Don't waste your time... the story really falls apart around Volume 15 or so.

I still love CCS!Syaoran/Sakura to bits, though. I just like to pretend TRC didn't happen.

I actually read until Volume 26 or so, before getting myself too busy to keep up to date with it. It didn't particularly bother me; at that point, reading every new chapter was a headache that I didn't want to face xD

I hope xxxHolic doesn't get screwed /too/ badly as well because of TRC >_<

TRC had such an interesting premise. I actually liked the first couple of volumes where it seemed to be going into the 'you can't have your cake and eat it too' territory of love story. AND THEN EVERYTHING BLOWS UP AND I DON'T WANT TO REMEMBER THAT IT EXISTS ANYMORE WHY MUST YOU REMIND ME.

And seriously : xxxHolic was one of my favourite things ever until it turned out that Watanuki is just, you know, another Syaoran. It's still got killer atmosphere, but god....must the entire universe be populated by Syaoran before CLAMP is satisfied? I would've liked xxxHolic much better if it was just a regular semi-episodic youkai story. It was awesome when it was just that.

I liked TRC a lot when I first started reading it, but then all those nonsensical plot holes happened and the manga crashed and burned under its own stupidity. Although looking back on it TRC!Sakura and TRC!Syaoran never fully appealed to me as much as their CCS counterparts did.

I still read xxxHolic because I want to know how it will end, but I agree that the story is much less enjoyable because of the whole stupid Watanuki-is-Syaoran nonsense. (Plus, I miss Yuuko ._.)

I liked TRC!Syaoran better than CCS!Syaoran early on, but then I discovered that he's much less awesome due to being one-tracked while CCS has this tsundere thing going on. And TRC!Sakura had this pinocchio like charm, which saddens me that she never really stops being a pinocchio.

I shipped Yuuko/Watanuki so yeah on that last point. :/ And also Zashiki-warashi/Watanuki, but she's like disappeared.

I stopped reading TRC so long ago (the moment I heard "vampires" and "clones" I got the fuck out of there) that I refuse to accept that it's connected to CCS in any way. HELL NO I'M NOT LISTENING YOU WILL NOT MAKE DISLIKE CCS, EVER.

And CLAMP will never write something as brilliant as CCS, true fact. Maybe Chun Hyang, if it wasn't so damn short :/

CCS really was CLAMP at their finest. I think xxxHolic's art is gorgeous but I'm still more of a fan of their CCS-era art style.
