Why do you think I've had this default icon for so long I SHIP THEM SO HARD. I cannot even express my love for this pairing in coherent thoughts! At all! THEY MAKE ME WARM AND FUZZY INSIDE OKAY ♥ And any insinuation that these two will not have a happy ending consisting of marriage and 2.5 children, let alone suggesting that they might end up with other people (Testarossa-kyoudai, I'm looking at you) just makes me go >:| FUCK THAT NOISE. I'll be honest and admit that I haven't been keeping up with recent developments in the novel, but even if I fall off the fandom bandwagon SouKana will still be my superultimate!OTP, yo.
Luffy D. Monkey/Nami [One Piece]
Okay, so unlike SouKana where if someone implies that SouKana is not canon I bite their face off, I can accept in my heart of hearts that LuNami is not a "canon" couple and that the only truly "canon" couple in One Piece is Strawhats/Adventure (oh and I guess Yasopp/Bankina and Roger/Rouge too.) And I do try to read One Piece without wearing shipper glasses, but I fail SO HARD at that every time there's a remotely LuNami scene. Like, you know, when Luffy first wakes up after Kuma seperates the crew and thinks of Nami. Or Nami crying while escaping Weatheria after hearing about Ace's execution. Or all those suggestive (?) cover pages. Or, oh, I dunno, during ALL 90 MINUTES OF STRONG WORLD ESPECIALLY THAT ENDING WHICH MADE ME WANT TO VOMIT HEARTS STARS AND FLOWERS ♥♥♥♥♥
A loooooooong time ago someone posted on the AP Forums that they liked LuNami because Nami had been through years of emotional (and probably physical) trauma at the hands of a cunning manipulative bastard, and Nami "needed" an honest, loyal, and simple guy like Luffy. That's a rather gross oversimplification of their relationship, but okay, I'll accept it. (Another reason why I love Strong World is Luffy's killer line to Shiki which made the RAWR GIRL POWAAAAA part of me so happy.)
