If I had never watched the first episode of this anime, I would not have chosen to take French in middle/high school, nor would I have chosen to take Japanese in college. I wouldn't have chosen to go to a university with (supposedly) the best Asian Studies program on the East Coast, and I certainly wouldn't have viewed Japan as more than a necessary stop-over to the mother country, let alone choose to study abroad there. As an anime it certainly was life-altering for me in terms of story and character development, but the main reason I watched this anime was because I shipped this pairing LIKE BURNING. I might not ship it as rabidly as I did 10 years ago, but if we're talking OTPs of All Time, this one would rank somewhere in the Top 3 or 4.

In short, I blame this pairing for everything.

Heero Yuy/Relena Darlian [Shinkidousenki Gundam Wing]

Gundam Wing was my gateway anime, and 1xR was my gateway ship, so of course this would win "shipped this since the beginning." Shit, I was on board as soon as soon as Heero was all (｀・ω⊂) DID YOU SEE?! while Relena was like ARE YOU THE PRINCE OF MY HEART THE STARS!?

BEST MEET-CUTE EVAR!!!!!!!!1

And then there was the infamous "I'll kill you" scene, which pretty much sealed my fate as a 1xR shipper. Heero was totally a cooldere-type - for someone who kept promising to kill Relena, he did a pretty good job of going out of his way to protect her.

tl;dr if Heero and Relena's kid doesn't show up in Frozen Teardrop, I'm going to be plenty pissed at Sumisawa.

[By the way, Heero and Relena totally ship one of my OTPs; in one of the plot lines of Super Robot Wars W, Heero and Relena both encourage Sousuke to defeat the bad guys and save Kaname... cross-validation, baby. *smug*]

Ah...I see. Read the prologue of FT yet, btw? kaijyuu_m made an awesome translation though it must have been nice if you read it in original Japanese. ^_^ My Tagalog is ok but I still use English as my primary language. *sighs* My family's not as nationalistic as I'd like. -_-
